Acknowledging the Divine Power Behind Everything

Acknowledge that it is the grace and power of God behind everything you do that makes it prosper. When you do so, you will always know the source behind every good that comes your way. The moment you think otherwise, you have stepped out of alignment with truth. That is when setbacks would occur as spirit reflects your state of untruth. Being aware of the divine would keep you in a state of meekness and true humility. That’s when you can connect to all things with acceptance and non-judgment.
The underlying reality is that we are all one, and there is only one power. When we fail to acknowledge the one power, we are thinking in terms of separate powers. That cannot be as separation does not exist. When we see the one power behind everything, we see ourselves as not greater or lesser than others, but all are equal. This is meekness. The one power exist at the highest position and also lives with the lowliest of the creatures. When we’re truly one with the power, we have a state of lowliness.

The horse-shoe or rabbit’s foot contains no power, but man’s spoken word and belief that it will bring him good luck creates expectancy in the subconscious mind, and attracts a lucky situation. However this will not work when man has advanced spiritually and knows a higher law. The rules change. One can no longer function with the lower things of the lower level and must put away all graven images. The attainment of a higher level of consciousness would conflict with the lower level of consciousness.
Two men had great success in business for several months but then suddenly everything fell apart. In the analysis of the situation, it was discovered that although they originally made affirmations and looked to God for success and prosperity, they had each bought a lucky monkey. They had turned their trust from God to lucky monkeys. They decided to discard the lucky monkeys and all went well again. Lucky charms will not work for those who have higher consciousness. They should depend upon God.
This does not mean, however, that you should throw away every lucky ornament or horse-shoe that is found in your house, but you must recognize that the power back of it is the one and only power, God, and that the object simply gives you a feeling of expectancy. When you do so, you acknowledge that there is only one power instead of two separate powers. The same goes when you think about your own power and forget about God’s power. Knowing the one power back of all power aligns you with truth.
There was a woman who was in deep despair. One day while crossing the street, she picked up a horseshoe. Immediately, she was filled with joy and hope. She said God had sent her the horseshoe in order to keep up her courage. It was indeed, at that moment, about the only thing that could have registered in her consciousness. Her hope became faith, and she ultimately achieved a wonderful manifestation. The men were depending on the monkeys alone but she recognized the power behind the horseshoe.
A young boy was told to speak the word for his coming examinations at school. He made the statement “I am one with infinite intelligence. I know everything I should know on this subject.†He had an excellent knowledge of history, but was not sure of his arithmetic. He spoke the word for his arithmetic and passed with the highest honors, but thought he could depend on himself for history and got a very poor mark. This shows that it is better to have confidence in God than in men, including yourself.
Man often receives a set-back when he is “too sure of himself,” which means he has become trusting in himself as a separate power instead of the one power of all. It is an irony that whenever you think you got it made, you lose it. Just when you thought you had come to gripes with success, it slips away. This shows that you should stop trying to control things, but just let God be in control. It is fear that compels a need for certainty and control. Do not be certain of things, but be living in constant surrender.
You never have to be too certain about your abilities and the things you do. Results seem to fluctuate even when you thought a certain thing should work and it doesn’t. That very thing works at another time and you wonder why it is so. Forget it, forget everything and stop looking at the world of phenomena. Acknowledge the divine power of God and depend on it as the single factor above all else. Do whatever you do but never put your trust fully in them. Detach from your works and let your trust be in God.
Another woman took an extended trip overseas one summer, visiting many countries where she wasn’t familiar with their languages. She called for divine guidance and protection every minute and things went smoothly and miraculously for her. Her luggage was never delayed or lost! Accommodations were always ready for her at the best hotels, and she had perfect service wherever she went. She returned to her country where she felt God was no longer necessary and so did her things in the ordinary way.
Everything went wrong, her trunks delayed, amid disharmony and confusion. This shows that you must form the habit of practicing the Presence of God every minute. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Nothing is too small or too great. All means all. The power of God is meant to direct your life in every way. Never in one area think that you can rely on your own power without God for it. Never try to depend less on God for anything at all. Depend on the one power in all ways.[/hidepost]
