Power is latent in the body and may be drawn out and used in various ways by the skilled. But unless confined in a circle it will be swiftly dissipated. Hence there is the importance of a properly constructed circle. Power seems to exude from the body via the skin and possibly from the orifices of the body. You have to unleash the power within you and cast a circle around you to contain and focus it. All this is done through feeling, action and visualization. In magic work, you’re raising and directing energy.

Part of the energy required for a spell comes from the ingredients, or components, and their correspondences. If that were all, though, spellcasting would be a passive act: A plus B equals C, every time. And as you know by now, this isn’t the case at all. So what’s the variable? What’s the magic that combines the energy of the ingredients, catalyzes them, and activates them, thereby achieving your goal? That magic is called energy. It’s the kind of energy that’s kinetic energy. It’s e-motion: energy-in-motion.

The attitude of mind has great effect, so only work with a spirit of reverence. You may use certain substances to produce a heightened state of emotion, but it’s necessary to be very moderate, as if you are confused, even slightly, you cannot control the power you evoke. Being in control is most important of all because you need to direct the vast amounts of energy to do exactly that which you want it to accomplish. That’s why clarity of mind is necessary to be established when doing work to send forth intent.

The simplest way to raise power is by dancing and singing monotonous chants, slowly at first and gradually quickening the tempo until giddiness ensues. Then the calls may be used, or even wild and meaningful shrieking produces power. But this method inflames the mind and renders it difficult to control the power, though control may be gained through practice. There is a far better way which is to simply use visualization, feeling and action to concentrate your consciousness on power and to raise it forth.

Start by clearing your mind and getting ready to feel and raise energy. Say out loud “I unleash the power within me and I cast it into a circle around me.” Feel energy being unleashed from within you and being contained in a circle around you. You can keep moving your body and use certain hand actions to unleash and direct the energy out of you into the external. After you have learned to concentrate, visualize and gather energy you can move onto directing it towards the action by which you want it to take.

The most basic way to do this is to simply gather energy and keep a picture of what you want; in your mind, as you do it. Put your hands out in front of you like you’re going to push someone, then once you have all the energy you can hold, see it all moving to your hands. In your mind fuse the image of what you’re after, with the energy. Visualize it all becoming a ball of power in front of your hands. Thrust your hands out sharply and push the ball of power out into the Astral Field. You send out your power.

If you are working a solitary ritual, one of the best ways to raise and release energy is through the Breath of Fire. You sit in a meditative position, and breathe rapidly and deeply in and out as fast as you can. Repeat over and over the words of your intent or want. Start out slowly and go faster and faster until you can stand it no more, exhale with a last great rush while shouting out: “So mote it be!” Fling your thought and visualization out into the Universe as if you were throwing a spear. You are throwing intent.

Repeat louder and faster until you can’t dance and sing and faster, then on the final “So mote it be,” scream that “beeee!” as loud as you can, as you fling your hands to the sky, releasing all that energy to go and work your will. Visualize the top of the cone of power that surrounds you erupting like a volcano, sending a beam of power where you want it to go. Then intentionally let go of it, allow your energy to stabilize and focus your mind on something else. You are allowing the energy to go work freely.

The Bible says that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ask or think, according to the power that works within you. This proves firstly that power is not outside of you, but it is within you. Secondly, this proves that God works according to the power that is from you. The power that you become conscious of, unleash and direct is the power that God uses to make things happen for you. This is the law of attraction. God and you are co-creators. Things happen the universal way.

Power has to be released into the external for it to work. Christ said he perceived that power had gone out from him when somebody touched him to be healed. The energy in motion has to be moved outside of you in order to be used in a spell. Your emotion that is within has to be released outwards and directed towards the magical action which you want it to undertake. Any result that is not accomplished by direct physical action is accomplished by magical action. Power is moved from internal to external.

In all religions, there is a path of cultivation. It is a cultivation of internal power. You need to cultivate your ability to tap into the power of the universe. You need to cultivate your connection with Source Energy. Even in Christianity, all the practices of prayer, fasting, worship, meditation and spending quite time with God are for cultivating their access to the Holy Spirit which is universal life force energy. It is cultivation of access to power and also the ways you can use it. Those who can perform greater miracles have higher levels of cultivation.

All power is within you and is absolutely under your control. Remember that all is within you. There is nothing external of you. The perception of the external is perceived within you. If all is within you, then all power is within you and you are the source of it. You supply the energy that makes every method of faith, magic or intention work. The power is not in the thing or the ritual, but the power is from you. There’s no God outside of you. God is within you. When you realize this, nothing is impossible to you.[/hidepost]
