When we resist a condition, person or thing that we don’t like or want, we are adding power to it. What you resist, persists. You resist when you fear. There is no fear in perfect love. Fearless loving offers no resistance and that is why it is free to attract everything that is like unto itself. That which is love is good. To love is to give space for things to be. Love is freedom. When you’re free, things will work out for your greatest good. That’s because the less resistance you offer, the more good flows in your way.

Resist not evil. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Nothing on earth can resist an absolutely nonresistant person. The Chinese say that water is the most powerful element, because it is perfectly nonresistant. It can wear away a rock, and sweep all before it. Jesus Christ said resist not evil because evil is not a reality unto itself and therefore there is nothing to resist. Evil is only the absence of universal good. The less resistance you feel towards unwanted things, the less they will exist.

There was a woman who was afraid to walk under a ladder because of superstition. She went to the bank to open her safety deposit vault but there was a ladder blocking her way. She could not get to her vault unless she walked under the ladder. She turned away in fear, but when she reached the street, she decided to return and walk under it. She retraced her steps to the vault but the ladder had been gone! This so often happens! If one is willing to do a thing he is afraid to do, he does not have to do it.

The explanation is that fear attracted the ladder on her pathway and fearlessness removed it. Face a situation fearlessly, and there is no situation to face. It falls away of its own weight. Walk up to the lion, and he will disappear. Run away and he runs after you. The lion of lack disappears when you spend money fearlessly, showing faith that God is your supply and therefore, unfailing. The great law of transmutation is founded on nonresistance. It is through this that every failure is transmuted into success.

A woman was asked to deliver a message for a friend. She feared to do so as she didn’t want to involve herself in the affair. But she had given her promise, so she decided to “walk up to the lion.” She met the person whom she was to deliver the message. But when she opened her month to speak it, she was told that whoever was involved had left town. That made it unnecessary for her to give the message. As she was willing to do it, she didn’t have to. As she did not fear, the situation vanished all by itself.

When you are centered in right thinking, send out only good will to others and are without fear, you cannot be influenced by the negative thoughts of others. In fact, you could only receive good thoughts, as you send forth only good thoughts. Resistance is hell for it places you in a state of torment. Perhaps your fear is of personality. Then do not avoid the people feared. Be willing to meet them cheerfully, and they’ll either prove golden links in the chain of your good, or disappear harmoniously from your path.

There was a woman who understood prosperity consciousness but she found herself continually in a business situation with a man who made her feel very poor. He talked lack and limitation and she was affected by his poverty thoughts. So she disliked him and blamed him for her failure. She knew that in order to manifest the money she needed, she must be free to have feelings of abundance and having received her desired reality. But she felt this man was sabotaging her efforts for wealth consciousness.

One day she had the realization that she was resisting the situation. So she blessed the man and called the situation as success. She affirmed that since there was only one power of good instead of two powers of good and evil, this man was there for her good and prosperity, which wasn’t what he seem to be there for. Soon after that she met through this man a woman who gave to her for a service rendered, several thousand dollars, and the man moved to a distant city, and faded harmoniously from her life.

Bless your enemy, and you rob him of his ammunition. His arrows will be transmuted into blessings. This law is true of nations as well as individuals. Bless a nation, send love and good will to every inhabitant, and it is robbed of its power to harm. You can only get the right idea of nonresistance, through spiritual understanding. You may say you don’t want to be a door-mat. But when you use nonresistance with wisdom, no one will ever be able to walk over you. Command and demand, but be detached from it.

Perhaps your fear is of disease or germs. Then you should be fearless and undisturbed in a germ laden situation, and you would be immune. You can only contract germs while vibrating at the same rate as the germ, and fear drags you down to the level of the germ. The germ is a product of the carnal mind. Germs do not exist in the divine mind or the superconscious. Therefore disease is not a reality unto itself, and there is nothing to fear. Doctors working do not contract disease because they do not fear it.

You can only vanquish fear by walking up to the thing you are afraid of. When Jehoshaphat and his army prepared to meet the enemy, singing “Praise the Lord, for his mercy endures forever,” they found their enemies had destroyed each other, and there was nothing to fight. One’s ships come in over a calm sea. So long as you resist a situation, you will have it with you. If you run away from it, it will run after you. In the twinkling of an eye, your release will happen when you realize there is no power in evil.[/hidepost]
